Sell Your Comic Book Collection

Rune Works Comics buys comic book collections in Sand Springs, Tulsa, and across northeastern Oklahoma. Full boxes go for a flat rate — $100 a short box, $150 a long box. Individual key issues are evaluated separately at up to 40% of retail. Send photos or a short walkthrough video and we'll get back to you.

What We Pay for Comic Books

Two ways to sell. Bulk boxes are priced flat and fast. Individual issues get graded and valued one at a time.

Bulk — Short Box

$100 per full box

Flat rate. Box must be filled to its designed capacity, every issue bagged and boarded.

$100 per full short box A full short box is 150 comics, bagged & boarded
  • Required count: 150 comics — a full box
  • Standard short box (approx. 15" long)
  • Every issue bagged and boarded
  • No sorting or grading required on your end

Bulk — Long Box

$150 per full box

Flat rate. Box must be filled to its designed capacity, every issue bagged and boarded.

$150 per full long box A full long box is 250 comics, bagged & boarded
  • Required count: 250 comics — a full box
  • Standard long box (approx. 28" long)
  • Every issue bagged and boarded
  • No sorting or grading required on your end

Full boxes only. The bulk rate applies to boxes filled to the capacity they were designed to hold with bagged and boarded comics — 150 issues for a short box, 250 issues for a long box. We do not purchase partial or half-filled boxes at the bulk rate, so please fill your boxes before bringing them in. If you're short of a full box, the loose issues can still be submitted as individual comics in the section below.

Individual Issues & Keys

Up to 40% of retail value

Single issues, key books, slabbed/graded comics, and short runs are evaluated separately from bulk boxes — issue by issue, based on condition, demand, and current market comps.

Please note: Rune Works Comics pays up to 40% of retail value on individual submissions. Retail value is determined by current market comparables and the book's actual condition on inspection. 40% is a ceiling, not a guaranteed rate — books with soft demand, condition issues, or heavy existing stock levels will be offered less, and some may be declined.

  • Each issue priced individually — no flat rate
  • Graded/slabbed books welcome (include cert numbers)
  • Condition, demand, and our current inventory all factor in
  • Written offer provided before any money changes hands

Estimated Bulk Payout $0

This estimator covers full bulk boxes only — we don't buy partial boxes at the bulk rate. Individual issues and key books are quoted separately at up to 40% of retail. All figures are estimates; the final offer is made after our staff physically inspects and counts the collection.

What Comic Books We Buy

Not sure if your collection qualifies? Here's the short version.

We're Buying

  • Full short and long boxes, bagged and boarded
  • Modern, copper, bronze, and silver age issues
  • Key issues and first appearances
  • Graded and slabbed books (CGC, CBCS, etc.)
  • Complete or near-complete runs
  • Trade paperbacks, omnibuses, and hardcovers
  • Estate collections and full inherited libraries

We Generally Pass On

  • Water damage, mold, mildew, or smoke odor
  • Loose, unbagged, or unboarded bulk boxes
  • Partial or half-filled boxes at the bulk rate
  • Severely incomplete or coverless issues
  • Magazines and newspapers (non-comic)
  • Heavily written-on, taped, or clipped books
  • Reader copies in poor / fair condition, in bulk

Bagged and boarded is required for the bulk rate. If your boxes aren't bagged and boarded yet, we still want to hear from you — just tell us in the form and we'll quote it separately.

The more detail you give us, the faster and more accurate our response will be. Everything here goes straight to our buying desk.

1 · Your Information
2 · What Are You Submitting?
This tells us which pricing track applies. Bulk and individual are evaluated separately.
3 · Bulk Box Details

Skip this section if you're only submitting individual issues. Bulk pricing applies to full boxes only — count only boxes filled to capacity here.

150 comics each, bagged & boarded — $100 per box
250 comics each, bagged & boarded — $150 per box
Auto-calculated from your full-box counts. Estimate only — not a binding offer.
4 · Individual Issues & Keys

Evaluated separately from bulk. We pay up to 40% of retail value on individual submissions.

Include title, issue number, year, your condition estimate, and any grading cert numbers.
5 · Photos & Video

A short walkthrough video is the single most useful thing you can send us — 30 to 90 seconds of you flipping through a box tells us more than a dozen still photos.

Box shots, spread-out stacks, and close-ups of key covers.
Keep clips under 90 seconds. Attachments are capped at about 10 MB total — if your video is larger, record it shorter, lower the resolution, or use the link field below instead.
No size limit this way. An unlisted YouTube link or a shared Drive/Dropbox file works perfectly — just make sure sharing is turned on so we can actually open it.
Best option for large collections — no file size limit.

What to show in a walkthrough video: fan through each box front to back so we can see spine condition and roughly how deep it's packed, hold on any key covers for a beat, and say the box count out loud. Natural light beats a flash. Phone video is completely fine — we're not judging the cinematography.

6 · Logistics

Before You Submit

  • Bulk rate is $100 per full short box and $150 per full long box. Boxes must be filled to design capacity — 150 for a short box, 250 for a long box — with every issue bagged and boarded.
  • We purchase full boxes only at the bulk rate. Partial boxes are not bought as bulk; loose issues can be submitted as individual comics instead.
  • Individual submissions are evaluated separately and paid at up to 40% of retail value. 40% is a maximum, not a guaranteed rate.
  • Any figure quoted before inspection is a non-binding estimate. The final offer is made after our staff physically inspects and counts the collection.
  • Rune Works Comics reserves the right to decline any submission, in whole or in part, for condition, authenticity, demand, or existing stock reasons.
  • You confirm you are the lawful owner of the material and have the right to sell it.

We typically respond within 2–3 business days. Your information is used only to evaluate this submission and is never sold or shared.

Areas We Buy From

We regularly buy collections from sellers across Green Country — Sand Springs, Tulsa, Sapulpa, Jenks, Bixby, Glenpool, Broken Arrow, Owasso, Catoosa, Skiatook, and the surrounding Oklahoma communities.

Sitting on a large estate collection or more boxes than fit in a car? Say so in the form and we'll talk through options for getting it to us.

Why sell to a local shop instead of shipping it off? No packing, no shipping cost, no waiting weeks for a check, and no risk of your books getting crushed in transit. You get an offer in person, and if you don't like it, you take your comics home the same day.

Selling Your Comics: Common Questions

The things people ask us most.

What exactly counts as a "full" box?

A box is full when it holds the number of bagged and boarded comics it was designed to hold — 150 issues for a standard short box and 250 issues for a standard long box. Hit those counts and the box pays the flat rate: $100 for a full short box, $150 for a full long box.

Do you buy partial or half-filled boxes?

Not at the bulk rate — we purchase full boxes only. The flat per-box pricing only works when the box is filled to capacity, so please top your boxes off before bringing them in.

If you're left with issues that don't fill a box, don't throw them in the trunk and hope — list them in the individual issues section of the form instead. They'll be evaluated on their own merits, and a decent key is worth far more that way than it would be as bulk filler.

Why is the individual rate capped at 40%?

Rune Works Comics pays up to 40% of retail value on individual submissions. The remaining margin covers grading, bagging and boarding, storage, listing, staffing, and the real risk that a book sits in inventory for months or years. 40% is our ceiling for the strongest, most in-demand books — softer titles and lower-grade copies come in below that.

How do you determine retail value?

We use current market comparables — recent completed sales, established price guides, and grading-adjusted comps — combined with the book's actual condition when we inspect it. We'll walk you through our reasoning on any book you ask about.

Can I submit both bulk boxes and individual issues together?

Absolutely, and most people do. Select "Both" on the form. We'll price the boxes at the flat bulk rate and pull your individual issues out for separate evaluation, then give you one combined offer.

Do I get more for taking store credit?

Ask us. We frequently offer a bonus above the cash figure when you take store credit instead. Note your preference on the form and we'll include both numbers in our offer.

What if you decline part of my collection?

We'll tell you exactly which books we're passing on and why, and you take those home. There's never any obligation to sell, and we don't do all-or-nothing offers.

Can I send a video instead of photos?

Please do — we'd rather have one good video than twenty photos. Thirty to ninety seconds of you fanning through a box shows us spine condition, how deep it's actually packed, and what titles are in there, all at once. Phone video is fine.

Upload it directly on the form if it's under about 10 MB. For anything bigger, drop it on YouTube as an unlisted video or share a Google Drive / Dropbox file and paste the link in the video link field — just double-check that sharing is turned on so we can open it.

How long does a review take?

We respond to submissions within 2–3 business days with a preliminary range and next steps. Once the collection is physically in front of us, bulk boxes are usually counted the same day; large individual lots may take longer to research.
